Liceul teoretic de informatica “Grigore Moisil” Iași (LIIS) has always been known for its performance in finding new solutions and ways to innovate teaching methods with the use of modern technology.

Since the onset of Erasmus+ projects ideas and educational resources in IT education grew, teachers acquired modern skills and know-how in how to use XR in their lectures (Erasmus+ 2018-1-RO01-KA201-049411 „Future schools using the power of Virtual and Augmented Reality for education and training in the classroom”), the use of microcontrollers applications in STEM lessons by (Erasmus+ 2019-1-RO01-KA202-063965) , revamping machines and use of Arduino devices (Erasmus+ 2019-1-RO01-KA202-063965), social media skills and many more. All these projects encouraged hands on experiences and the development of skills adapted to the modern times and labor market requirements. There is a shift in the perspective of employers, in the needs students have to fill in upon graduation that modern education simply has to take into consideration. The project teams in LIIS make sure that students will be prepared to compete and excel in the IT field whenever required, an an international level.

The evolution was encouraged by the participation at multiple conferences and contests as well, for example the Cybersecurity Conference and contest Cybershare Academy for Schools (CA4S), the International Cybersecurity conference “Strategical partnership between Romania and USA in the Cybersecurity domain”.

Not only class support has become top of the art, but technical and logistical solutions came to fit the job:  the highschool has 9 laboratories for Computer Science, 1 for Biology, 1 for Chemistry and 1 for Physics, as well as many kits for devices such as Arduino, VR glasses, Drones and Smart Whiteboard systems.

Our highschool promotes innovation and has always helped the students achieve their dreams at school. Students had the chance to participate in extracurricular activities including  Lecture club, English club, Debates club, Robotics club, History club, Music club and many others. We are extremely proud of our Robotics club as it is one of the most successful in Romania coming from a state governed institution, with approximately  45 highschool students and 50 secondary school students every year competing in the most prestigious competitions.

The investment in technological solutions has brought web design,  XR development, use of technological devices into the lessons of teachers, not only for STEM subjects, we have numerous web sites and applications developed for objects like Romanian language, Psychology, History and many more.
