During the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world unexpectedly, numerous companies made their contribution in times of greatest need by using their machinery and manufacturing facilities to help doctors and hospitals tackle the emergency.

One of these companies was Isinnova with their EASY COVID19 project.

The project born from an idea of Dr. Renato Favero and developed by the engineer Cristian Fracassi of ISINNOVA.

Doctor Favero shared with ISINNOVA an idea to deal with the possible shortage of hospital C-PAP masks for sub-intensive therapy, which emerged as a concrete problem linked to the spread of Covid-19: this idea was the construction of a respiratory mask emergency by readjusting a snorkeling mask already on the market.

A 3D printed fitting, allowed the use of the DECATHLON «Easybreath» snorkeling mask to replace the C-PAP masks, used for respiratory failure in sub-intensive care.

The multinational corporation DECATHLON immediately made itself available to cooperate, upon request of the Lombardy region, firstly by providing ISINNOVA with the CAD drawing of the snorkeling mask, then once it was verified that the project worked, donating 10,000 masks to the Italian government that distributed them to the regions concerned.

The CHARLOTTE valve is just an example of 3D printing as versatile tool…keep following our website refittingmachine.eu and find out more once our Expert Toolkit will be online!
